Appointments
We know you have many choices when choosing a Pediatric Dentist in Tampa, FL, so we have made requesting an appointment a simple process via our Web site. If, for any reason you cannot keep a scheduled appointment, or will be delayed, please call us as soon as possible.
Insurance and Billing
We accept most traditional insurance plans, contact our office to verify acceptance of your plan. Pediatric Dentistry Of New Tampa does not participate in Health Management Organizations; however, we will be happy to file your insurance claims for you. We accept checks, cash or credit cards. We also offer a flexible payment plan. Please see our Financial Coordinator for details. We are happy to file insurance for your reimbursement as long as you are free to choose your own dentist.
Appointment Scheduling
We attempt to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Please take into account that children have their own timetable and we have to make the visit as easy as possible. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen early as well, for the same reason. When we schedule sedation patients, these appointments are in the morning and a parent or custodian should come to that visit. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued. Afternoon appointments are challenging during school year. We try to give everyone an opportunity to be able to schedule in the afternoon for orthodontic appointments.
Since appointed times are reserved exclusively for each patient, we PLEASE ask you to notify our office 24 to 48 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time, if you are unable to keep your appointment. Patients, who need extensive and medically necessary treatment, should be able to be notified with enough time in advance. We realize unexpected things can happen, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.
When we treat children, sometimes it takes more time than usual for treatment. We try to stay on schedule, but the child dictates the time as well. Please be patient with us. We are patient with your child. If it is your child that is taking more than usual, we would take extreme care for his or her comfort as well.
Participation of parents in dental treatment
A parent is welcome to accompany their child in their first visit. We allow one parent in the examination room. We do not allow siblings in the treatment rooms. Children have a very creative and active mind and when they see the instruments from another perspective, and it may scare them.
All children that are visiting the office that are not patients that day need to be supervised by an adult for their safety.
We are highly experienced in helping children overcome anxiety. Separation anxiety is not uncommon, so please try not to be concerned if your child exhibits some negative behavior. This is normal and will soon diminish.
Studies and experience have shown that most children over 3 years of age react more positively when permitted to experience the dental visit on their own and in an environment designed for children.
Pregnant mothers are to stay away from X-ray areas and operating rooms that nitrous oxide is being used.
And please refrain from using cell phones unless it is an emergency.
Our Office Dental Insurance Policy
We would like to receive all your insurance information before the appointment. That helps get information from your company and make sure everything is in order. We are happy to file the claim for you within days of treatment. You must be familiar with your insurance benefits as we will collect from you the estimated amount that the insurance is not expected to pay. By law, your insurance is required to pay within 30 days of receipt. We file all claims electronically unless there is a special circumstance.
You are responsible for any unpaid balance on your account after 30 days, whether your insurance has paid or not. We are glad to send a refund to you once insurance has paid us and if you paid by check, please wait until the check has cleared.
Please understand that we file the dental insurance as a courtesy to our patients. You have a contract with your insurance company. We are not responsible how your insurance company handles its claims or what benefits they pay on a claim. We can only assist you in estimating your portion of the cost of treatment, we at no time guarantee what your insurance will and will not pay on each claim. We can not be responsible for any errors in filing your insurance.
Dental insurances are meant to be an aid in receiving dental care for your child. Many patients think that all procedures are covered 100%. NOT TRUE. Most pay between 50-80%.Some are very good and pay more, others pay less. The percentage paid is usually determined by how your employer has set up with the insurance company. For non-preventive dental treatment, we will ask you to pay 20% of the treatment at the time the service is rendered unless other is specified on treatments covered.
Benefits are not determined by our office, you may have noticed that sometimes your dental insurer reimburses you or the dentist at a lower rate that your dentist actual fee. Frequently, insurance companies state that the reimbursement was reduced because your dentist’s fees has exceeded the usual, customary or reasonable fee (“UCR”) used by the company. A statement such as this gives the impression that any fee greater than the company is unreasonable or well above the dentist in the area. Our office is a specialist office and some of the fees determined by companies are for general dentists. This can be very misleading and simply is not precise. Insurance companies set their own fee schedules and each company uses a different set of fees.
Please keep us up to date on any changes, such as policy, name, insurance company address or change of employment.
What makes this office special
Experience makes a difference a warm heart makes it possible.
Our décor has to do with nature. It makes the patient relax and have fun. Dr. Marta calls it the tree house. Other than the reception room, we have a quiet room where moms and dads can sit and wait for their children or stay with the other little ones and in the morning it is the room we use for the sedated children. We also have a play room that kids love.
We try to make it easier for parents and children utilizing N2O2/O2 or pediatric conscious sedation techniques. She receives referrals for pediatric dentist themselves and from physicians and dentists from in town and different counties, all through word of mouth.
Dr. Marta is always on the cutting edge of the newest information through continuing education. She always has the latest materials and treatment methods for her patients.
She has invested in acquiring a soft tissue laser to treat maxillary and mandibular frenectomies. This procedure is surgically cutting part of the tissue that is attached between the upper teeth the lip and the bone on the upper jaw and cutting the tissue that adheres to the floor of the mouth on the lower jaw. The mandubular lingual frenectomy is sometimes necessary to improve speech.
Her newest project is to detect airway obstructions in children. She has gone through training with experts in USA in this matter. Obstructive sleep apnea is not only an adult condition, but also affects children. Lack of normal breathing, and snoring has proven to have a detrimental effect in the oral facial structures, behavior at school and overall health in children who are developing.
She will be informing her colleagues and parents about the new revolutionary scientific findings that may help your child be healthier.
And after all WE ARE THE HAPPY SMILE DESIGNERS!!!
